The technology education option is a nationally accredited Bachelor of Science (BS) program that prepares individuals to teach technology education in grades 6-12. This major consists of courses in the following areas:

• communication
• manufacturing
• energy
• power
• transportation
• related professional
• and related technical areas

A majority of these courses consists of hands-on experiences in laboratory settings. Many laboratory activities will have a design emphasis that requires creative problem solving skills. These types of activities empower and motivate students. In addition, there are a series of teacher preparation courses that lead to a secondary education certification. The Department of Engineering and Technology Education along with the Department of Secondary Education teach these courses.

The trade and technical education option is for those who want to teach in career and technical education. Career and technical education's mission is to prepare youth and adults for careers in such areas as:

• building trades
• automotive technology
• electricity and electronics
• computer-aided drafting
• nursing
• and culinary arts

Completion of requirements for the program provides individuals with an opportunity to apply for licensure to teach in their selected field.
