Funded projects are in two research areas:
1) Metal Machining, and
2) Engineering Education
Financial support will be provided to the following two job positions that are currently available (last updated July 2008):
Position #1: Post-doctoral Researcher in Metal Machining
Requirements for applicants: must have machining background and experience in traditional or high-speed turning, or milling, or drilling processes.
Research goal: experimental and theoretical investigations of fundamental machining problems such as the effect of tool geometry, tool wear, and so on.
Position #2: PhD Student in Engineering Education Research
Requirements for applicants: 1) must have an engineering MS degree, or an engineering BS degree plus a non-engineering MS degree; and 2) must have a GRE score of minimum 40th percentile on the verbal test and on the quantitative test.
Research goal: study how new instructional strategies (such as multimedia, computer simulation, and online distance education) can help students better learn engineering.
